Part of the 'Life in Glyphs' series of work. The series explores how symbols can communicate more efficiently than the written word. Common examples such as traffic signs, arrows etc. provide information quicker than text. This piece takes the pause symbol, incorporates it with the human footprint. Playing on the 'pause/paws' homophone, it asks for humans to rest and reflect on their mark in the world.

Continuing the exploration of the notion how symbols can deliver immediate information efficiently. Using the symbols we see every day on CD players or DVD systems the viewer is asked to STOP.REFLECT.PAUSE.PLAY.and GO FORWARD. The word life is integrated between the glyphs.

Making no judgement thoughts were turned to the debate about gender. Using stereotypes of blue and pink for boy and girl. The cellular biology of DNA element asks if the identity is innate.

Sometime ago I had quite a traumatic experience involving my ears and tinnitus. The wonderful people in the Ear Nose and Throat Department in the Ipswich Hospital managed to heal a great deal of the problem. Such was the relief from pain and trauma, I felt compelled to say a heartfelt thank you by contributing to the paintings in the waiting room. Here is my aural relief depicted in visual form, a kind of before and after. This piece is gifted to those wonderful people and its department. Thank you so much.
